Reported by: David Shepherd Monday, Sep 15, 2008 @06:15pm EDT Valley drivers got a shock on Saturday, when gas prices spiked close to $5.
Though the price went down within a few hours, prices remain high even today. Now Indiana’s Attorney General is weighing in. He’s talking about what his department is doing to keep the gas companies honest. “Every time we get a complaint from a consumer, we look into that matter,” Indiana Attorney General Steve Carter said. Some drivers aren’t buying the “Ike – Spike” excuse for the high prices. United State’s Assistant Energy Secretary Jim Slutz tells WTWO that his office received a high number of calls over the weekend, reporting possible price gouging. He tells us that those complaints are forwarded to the Justice Department and state Attorneys General. Carter says that investigations take time but every complaint is investigated.
