She was hired the day before her birthday and considers this job the best birthday present to date. She is the youngest of three children and is very close with her parents, two brothers and is a proud aunt. From a young age, Elyse declared she wanted to be on the TV news and spent many a recess interviewing people as she “played TV reporter.” Graduating from a large Indianapolis high school, Elyse won several awards in show choir competitions and had many starring roles in the school's theater productions. She also enjoyed a long involvement with two well known community theatres. Elyse graduated from Indiana University, Magna Cum Laude, with a degree in Broadcast Journalism and Psychology. She loves creating relationships with people and finding out what’s important to them. She’s also a huge Hoosier basketball fan thanks to her brothers. Elyse is a TV addict. She also enjoys reading and traveling. She traveled extensively in Australia, where she could be spotted in a helicopter following the Olympic Torch, whale watching, surfing or sky diving, and where she determined living on a beach is for her! While there, she worked at Network 9 for an Australian travel show called Getaway. She has had the good fortune to travel to Thailand (pre-tsunami), Fiji, Israel and most recently, Italy. Elyse now co-anchors WTWO Live at Five, WTWO Evening Edition, WTWO Prime Edition on WFXW and WTWO Late Edition. This past July, at the 45th annual Ohio Valley Regional Emmy awards ceremony in Lexington, Kentucky, Elyse won an Emmy for Best News Writing. Her series on how the Zaikovsky family deals with the murders of their daughter and granddaughters in 2005 earned a nomination and win. Click to email Elyse. |
