Reported by: Tom McClanahan Thursday, Feb 26, 2009 @03:45pm EST One elementary school in Terre Haute was truly international today.
"Moroccan Diversity Day" was held at Meadows Elementary. Each grade took part. Students learned about Arabic writing, crafts, games, makeup and food from Morocco. Layla Elamrani is an ISU graduate student from Morocco. She is doing an administrative internship at Meadows. She invited her friends from campus who represented several different cultures as well. "I'm very fortunate to have students from ISU from different nationalities. We have Finland, France, Saudi Arabia, India, Greece, Zimbabwe and Nigeria. I hope I didn't forget anybody. So, I'm really glad they came to help me out this morning." The American School of Rabat will do a video conference with Meadows School Friday morning. A Rose-Hulman student from Morocco will play drums to one class as well. |
