The Vigo County Council met on a special night Tuesday because their regularly scheduled meeting fell on Memorial Day.

At the meeting, the council approved a tax abatement for CSN. CSN is located in the Industrial Park. It’s a cold-rolling steel producer.

Also, the council is still looking at budget issues for 2009. They will be sending a letter out to department heads asking for budgets to be filed so they can review them. Kathy Miller, Vigo Co. Council President tells WTWO, "Departments are still requesting additional appropriations so the council is looking at every request seriously and making considerations as far as the best and most efficient way to spend the taxpayer's money."

The council also voted to change the time of their meetings. They will now be at 5 p.m. each month instead of 4:30.
