Reported by: Dan Reynolds Wednesday, Sep 9, 2009 @05:00pm EDT Yelp is a location-based application for smartphones like the Palm Pre, the Blackberry, or the iPhone.
There's a slick feature that right now works only with the iPhone . It identifies your location, then superimposes graphics about businesses and attractions near by. It's a secret feature you must activate by shaking your iPhone three times. Doing this enables something called Monocle. Then just point your camera down the block. Check it out...see the graphics? Those are stores, restaurants, gas stations. All near by and looking like those robots you see in those augmented sci-fi flicks. Click on them and you can get reviews and detailed info. Pretty cool.
