Reported by: David Shepherd Sunday, Nov 1, 2009 @07:21pm EST It's the end of an era for a Valley church.
Reverend Donald Mullen has been with the First Congregational Church in Terre Haute for 14 years. He's been in the ministry for nearly 50. Sunday, the congregation thanked him for his work through the years as he prepares to retire at the end of the year. Parishioners honored the reverend with gifts and a proclamation from Mayor Duke Bennett declaring November 1st Reverend Donald Mullen Day. Mullen says he's long believed in the power of diversity in the church and says he has always welcomed everyone to his services. His work over the years reflects that dedication to diversity and hopes the community will continue that work after he leaves the ministry. |
