Reported by: Jon Swaner Monday, Nov 2, 2009 @04:55pm EST The Vigo County Health Department has called in reinforcements in its battle against the H1N1 virus.
The Health Department wants all residents vaccinated for the H1N1 virus. The Health Department sent a letter to all health care providers asking them to help them vaccinate those who want the H1N1 vaccine. So far, about 20 providers have volunteered their services. Once the vaccine arrives, they'll vaccinate first responders and pregnant women first. The health department says their help is needed to get as many people vaccinated as possible. "We have a population of over 100,000 people, and so it helps make our job a little easier. And then you have to think about the people as well. A lot of people are comfortable going to their physician to receive a vaccination versus going elsewhere,” said Megan Bland, the Health Department’s Media Coordinator. If you're a Vigo County doctor or pharmacist and would like to help, call 462-3428. |
