Carrithers pulled onto the crossing off Old U.S. 41 behind the prison at Carlisle. He apparently did not see a northbound freight. The train hit the grain truck just behind the cab. It tore the truck in two. A crossing signal was also destroyed. Carrithers was taken to the hospital but did not sustain serious injuries. The train sat on the tracks for several hours. Other northbound freights were held up because of the accident. |
