He graduated from the last class at Hymera High School, which now feeds into North Central High School. After a year at Purdue, Tom graduated with a B.S. in Marketing from Indiana State University in 1971. While at ISU, Tom was a photographer at WTHI-TV for a year and used that experience to begin working at WTWO in August of 1971. Other than a nine-month stint to sell cable advertising, Tom has been at WTWO-TV the entire time since then. During his stay here Tom has fulfilled duties as a news photographer, a spot news reporter, a featured reporter, weekend news anchor, a local Today Show anchor, as well as, sports director and advertising account executive. From 1992-2008, Tom had been the senior weekday anchor for the 5, 6, 10 and 11 o'clock newscasts. In fact, he anchored close to 10,000 newscasts in his career. Tom now dedicates most of his time to serving as News Director, and appears on-air on WTWO newscasts on almost a daily basis. Over the years, Tom has emceed various news and social events, interviewed countless newsmakers and celebrities and has covered events and features in every county of the viewing area. Tom is currently single and lives in Sullivan, IN. He is the proud father of daughters Sara Plunkett, who lives with her husband, Brent, in Mooresville, Indiana and Emily, who resides with her mother in Lexington, Kentucky. Click to email Tom. |
