Reported by: Tom McClanahan Wednesday, Nov 4, 2009 @04:27pm EST Every year a senior expo is held in Clark County, Illinois.
The latest gathering happened Wednesday at Marshall's First Christian Church. The Clark County Extension Service is the host. Topics from diabetes to possible scams were covered. Twenty to twenty-five exhibitors were there. It's an excellent opportunity to provide information that escapes some seniors in the area. County Extension Agent Susan Guinnup says, "It's valuable to them to know what agencies and organizations are around to serve them, because in a rural community like this, many of the agencies that serve us are not in the county, they are serving several counties and, plus it's a good opportunity for them to get out and visit with each other." Nearly 25 percent of Clark County residents are over the age of 65. |
