Reported by: David Shepherd Thursday, Nov 5, 2009 @05:58pm EST Indiana's Secretary of State was in the Valley Thursday discussing a wide range of issues.
Secretary Todd Rokita visited Fountain, Vermillion and Vigo counties. He met with Fountain County prosecutors to discuss securities law updates and his Prosecution Assistance Unit. From there he met with contractors in Clinton where renewable energy projects aim to create 70 jobs by 2012. In Terre Haute, Rokita met with healthcare professionals to discuss rural healthcare issues. He took a moment to discuss the current healthcare debate in Washington and expressed his disapproval of socialized medicine. "As the hurricane goes around and round in D.C., I wish congress could be here in this room right now,” said Rokita. He continued, “I wish they could get this tour to see what you've done and see how you've been able to reduce costs and do so much with limited resources, quite frankly, without having to go to socialized medicine." While in Terre Haute, Rokita will meet with the Terre Haute Physicians Association to discuss more healthcare options. |
