Reported by: Tom McClanahan Friday, Nov 6, 2009 @02:30pm EST A settlement between the Terre Haute International Airport and Ivy Tech may be close.
A building owned by the airport was being used by the school for aviation education. It was damaged by a tornado and heavy winds. The airport sued Ivy Tech for money to repair the facility. Both sides have reached a tentative settlement of $1.5 million. The airport board approved that proposal today. Nothing formal will be done until the next regular meeting in less than two weeks. On another matter the airport is looking into a different kind of air service, according to Director Dennis Wiss, "We would like to look at some travel destination, maybe Terre Haute to Branson, Missouri, Terre Haute to French Lick, yeah, popular spots, casino gambling, something like that." Wiss said any kind of service like that is not in the near future. He added negotiations are underway with a private business to sell some airplanes, fuel and maintenance properties at the airport. No decision has been made on that possible sale. |
