Reported by: Tom McClanahan Wednesday, Nov 25, 2009 @04:45pm EST Nearly a hundred people showed up at the Light House Mission Wednesday in Terre Haute. This is one of three meals provided by the mission all toll on Wednesday and Thanksgiving Day.
Rather than stand in line, volunteers served meals at each table. Those volunteers are a key element to the program. The mission can always take money and volunteers. There are other ways to help like donating personal items, according to Bonnie Wallace of the Light House Mission, "Like shampoo, soap, tooth brushes, toothpaste, all that we can use those because we provide those for all our residents, uh, also paper products, like paper towels. we use lots of toilet paper and that type of thing so they can give those types of things as well as their time and monetarily and that will help us." There are currently more than 80 residents at the Light House Mission. Thursday's meals will be served at noon and 5 p.m. They are open to the public. |
