Despite job loss around the country students at Rose-Hulman rubbed elbows with potential employers Wednesday morning.

The university held it's winter career fair and numbers were up from the spring.

Around 90 businesses and 120 representatives met with students about internships and full time positions.

A report from the National Association of Colleges and Employers says hiring is improving for students right out of school.

"It's a hopefully economy right now," said Kevin Hewerdine, Director of Career Services. "We are seeing a slight uptake of the number of companies that want to hire full time, still bleak, but there are some positive signs coming out."

Rose-Hulman offers students three career fairs throughout the year.

Local companies like Sony and Bemis sent representatives.

 35 Indiana companies also attended.
