Thumbprint Cookies from Clabber Girl

Thumbprint Cookies
Preheat oven to 350 degrees
Combine the following ingredients in mixer:
1 stick butter , softened
¼ cup brown sugar
1 egg yolk
1 cup all-purpose flour, sifted
¼ tsp. salt
½ tsp. vanilla
Cream together in mixer, butter, sugar, egg yolk and vanilla
Sift flour and salt, add to mixture and mix until combined
Portion dough into 1” balls
Roll in finely chopped pecans
Put 3” apart on non-stick baking sheet
Press thumb firmly on top to make indentation
Bake 13-15 minutes or until cookies are set and nuts are lightly toasted
Transfer and cool on baking rack
Fill with your favorite icing or jam
Yields approx. 20 cookies
