On the menu for tonight, a Clay County tradition for well over half a century.
Brazil, Indiana, 1931. A little stand opens, selling slider-style hamburgers.
The place? Eddie's Sandwich Shoppe.
"From the moment we walked in, it kind of took us back to the days of the soda shops when we were first dating, and we just enjoyed it so much," said customer JoAnne Fiscus.
Owner Beth McGinty adds: "You could just be apart of history."
Current owners Beth McGinty and her husband grew up eating at Eddie's, and about six years ago, they got the chance to take it over.
But they're not messing with success - just adding a dining room and full-breakfast menu.
Eddie's has been a Clay County tradition for over 80 years, and it's that same great taste that keeps the customers coming back for more.
"The double bacon cheeseburger is my favorite," said customer Kelly Mason.
McGinty says: "Fried bologna...that's a crazy popular one."
Sam Crawn, an Eddie's regular says: "Smoked sausage, egg and cheese sandwich."
"I think we have the best fries in town," adds McGinty.
"I like their tenderloin," said Crawn. "I walk in the door and they throw it on the grill."
And the food at Eddie's comes with a side of comfort.
"They take care of us. They know us all by name," said Crawn, "And the coffee cup's on the counter before I even get to it in the morning."
McGinty says, "You know the people that are coming in. It's like a family. When you say it's a family business it's more than just the people who own it...it's the whole town and community."
And even a brand-new customer can feel like part of the crew.
"We were making lists of oh we've gotta bring our son here, we've gotta bring our friends here." said Fiscus. "It's a special experience. We really enjoyed it. And we'll be back."
