The investigation continues into a suspected case of tuberculosis at a Vigo County Middle School.

Officials are awaiting the results of a culture test from the possible patient, which should take about two weeks.

As a precaution, the Vigo County Health Department is preparing to administer TB tests to the 1,000-person pool at Woodrow Wilson.

It won't happen until next Tuesday, because students need sign permission to get the test, and officials have to get enough of the TB test-kits in stock.

"If there were reason for us to believe that students couldn't or didn't need to be in school,
we would cease having the school open and we do have that authority as the local health department. But at this time, there isn't any reason for any student no to go to school," said Joni Foulkes of the Vigo County Health Department.

The Vigo County Health Department says they have only received a few phone calls, and they're proud that parents are remaining calm and not panicking.

They urge parents to sign their child's TB test permission slip and return it to Wilson by Thursday.

If you have any questions or concerns, contact the Vigo County Health Department at (812) 462-3431.
