This is a news release from Indiana State Police:

Indiana State Police Criminal Investigation Division Detectives from the Putnamville Post are investigating a police action shooting that resulted in the death of a Greencastle man.

Just after midnight Sunday morning, a 911 call was received reporting a physical domestic disturbance involving a male and female that was occurring near 511 Sycamore Street in Greencastle.

A Greencastle Police Officer arrived at the scene shortly thereafter and approached the male subject that had allegedly been involved.

Upon the officer's approach to the male, the male purportedly charged at the officer, resulting in a physical confrontation.

That physical confrontation resulted in the police action shooting of the male identified as Charles Aaron Brousard, 28 of Greencastle.

Putnam County EMS officials were summonsed and arrived just after the incident where they found Greencastle Police performing life saving procedures on Brousard.

Brousard was pronounced dead at the scene by the Putnam County Coroner.

The investigation is ongoing.
