The Greene County man who shot two sheriff's deputies yesterday didn't die from a self-inflicted gunshot.

The Greene County Daily World reports that the Greene County coroner is classifying the death as a homicide following Thursday's autopsy. Michael Lane, 25, allegedly died from a single gunshot wound to the chest.

The second Greene County Deputy who was injured in a police action shooting Wednesday is no longer in the hospital

Officials say that Deputy James O'Malley was treated and released from IU Health in Bloomington.

O'Malley and Deputy Brad Deckard were both shot by 25-year old Michael Lane, after he barricaded himself inside his home.

Police returned fire, and Lane was killed during the exchange.

Officials don't know if Lane was fatally shot by law enforcement, or if his wounds were self-inflicted.

Deckard was also taken to IU Health, and he was released Wednesday night.
