Coon hunting brings in thousands of dollars for war veterans.
This weekend hunters released their hounds at Brazil Coon Hunters and Field Trail Inc. Grounds in Brazil, Indiana.
Dozens of hounds competed in water races for charity money.
This is the first year the cooperative effort involving The Wounded Warrior Project and Hoosier Tree Alliance Inc.
Organizers say the event will donate about $3,000 to wounded warriors with health issues.
"I'm not satisfied with it. I'd like to raise about $10,000, and get the whole community behind this effort to raise money for the Wounded Warrior Project. That's not much money when you consider a dad who might not be able to walk his daughter down the isle at her wedding or something like that," said Chris Powell with Hoosier Tree Alliance Inc.
