They met with energy industry leaders from the two-state area.
The conversation centered around the role of the federal government.
The Congressmen claim the continued regulations being passed down by the Environmental Protection Agency are preventing energy independence.
And they feel the Obama Administration has it out for the coal industry.
"I know that the President is conducting a war against coal. he's fulfilling his campaign promise made to the San Francisco examiner to bankrupt this industry. what he didn't tell the American public was that it would cost them their jobs...and high cost energy at that expense of an ideological campaign."
"It's very clear to me that the district I represent, one of the most productive districts in America for coal production, is under attack by this President and this administration. And I think for me as a member of congress for this area...we're fighting back."
Both Bucshon and Shimkus also took a tour of Sunrise Coal in Sullivan County.
