The iPhone 5 hit stores Friday morning, and residents across the Valley waited in line in the cold weather to buy the newest apple device.

The Verizon Store near Honey Creek Mall opened its doors at 8 a.m, but the line started forming much earlier.

Customers started arriving hours before, and that location was sold out within minutes of certain styles.

Officials say this is the busiest launch they've ever had.

"The line wasn't even 100 percent indicative of who was here because people were waiting in their cars and stuff like that.  Definitely better than the four.  It wasn't a massive line wrapped around the building or anything, but it was definitely bigger than the previous two iPhone launches by far," said Verizon sales representative Jim Campbell.

Apple recently sold more than 2 million iPhone 5 on the first day of pre-sale.
