The National Alliance on Mental Illness helped establish this as a way to raise awareness of mental illness, and help educate the public.
We spoke with local representatives from Hamilton Center about Mental Illness Awareness Week.
Hamilton Center says a lot of people associate mental illness with the chronically ill when in fact it covers a lot of services for all ages.
"We offer services to early childhood ages 3-5 all the way to child adolescents, as far as services for young adults as well as all the way to geriatrics," said Emily Owens of Hamilton Center.
