Illinois soldiers who have made the ultimate sacrifice are being remembered in Edgar County. Lieutenant Governor Pat Quinn visited Paris Monday to unveil the `Portrait of a Soldier` memorial. Eastern Illinois University student Cameron Schilling has drawn portraits of 134 Illinois service people who have died in combat since the 9/11 attacks. Those portraits include Specialists Charles Lamb of Casey and Sergeant Shawna Morrison of Paris. Quinn insisted that the memorial visit the home of the 1544th, "This unit, when it was in Iraq, took terrible casualties, lost of casualties and lost five members in a defense of democracy. I think it`s important to acknowledge that the community of Paris was wonderful in terms of supporting the men and women of the unit. I think (the memorial) is something that`s an inspiration." The portraits will be on display in the Paris American Legion from 10am to 5pm each day through Saturday October 28th.
