Lawmakers Wearing Sneakers At The Statehouse

By: NBC 2 / WAWV News
Updated: January 28, 2013
It is not a sight you would normally see at the Indiana Statehouse.

Lawmakers in their suits and sneakers.

State representatives and senators took up the Suits and Sneakers challenge from college coaches across the state, including Indiana State's basketball coach Greg Lansing.

The Suits and Sneakers challenge is an extension of this past weekend's Coaches v. Cancer Suits and Sneakers event. College coaches and their staffs wore sneakers to support the American Cancer Society and American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network. The network promotes physical activity and nutrition as a way to fight back against cancer.

Lansing was at the Indiana Statehouse as a part of the effort.

Last year, 13,000 Hoosiers died from various forms of cancer.

In the attached photo, House Speaker Brian Bosma poses with Rep. Alan Morrison (R-Terre Haute), Rep. Bob Heaton (R-Terre Haute) and ISU Coach Greg Lansing to show off their footwear for the Suits and Sneakers challenge.
