Our Old National Bank and Junior Achievement MVP of the Week is McKenzie Roark. She is a senior at North Daviess Jr./Sr. High School.

Kenzie is an outgoing student who gives it her all in the classroom and on the track.

"[She's a] member of the cheer team, member of the track team, cross country team; just done a wonderful job," says Principal Jed Jerrels.

"I think Kensie embodies the idea of a student athlete. Someone who's equally as dedicated to both and isn't focused on one; can do two things really well and will get the job done," says Lucas Calhoun, social studies teacher and Beta Club sponsor.

Kenzie serves as an officer for student council, the science club and Beta Club. She's also the treasurer for FCA, Fellowship of Christian Athletes. "It really keeps me on track with my grades and [I] know that every other Friday morning that I came into school and that I have something to look forward to throughout my day and to just know that I have people there to back me up when I'm feeling kind of down about myself," says Kenzie.

The county's FCA representative, Ron Bratton, nominated Kenzie for MVP of the Week. "She's bubbly and she just smiles all the time unless I tell her to do something she doesn't want to do. Then she may frown at me a little bit," Bratton says laughingly.

Kensie hopes to continue cheering at the collegiate level. "I don't think I'm ready to give it up yet, so hopefully I can just keep going, and if I make the squad then I will; if not, it wasn't meant to be anyways," says Kenzie.

One thing is certain, Kensie will have her hands full with her studies this fall. She plans to major in biology, pre-med and minor in business at Indiana University - Purdue University at Fort Wayne.

"I actually want to be a perinatologist and it's a maternal fetal medicine specialist that specializes in high risk pregnancies," Kensie explains.

Her teacher says she's left a mark at North Daviess. "Great attitude, great smile, sassy, hard worker; definitely a student that's going to be missed," says Calhoun.
