Vigo County has a new juvenile court magistrate.
However, he's very familiar with the county's juvenile justice system.
The county judges selected attorney Dan Kelly to take over the juvenile court.
From 1995 until just a few months ago, Kelly served as the county's deputy prosecutor for the juvenile court.
He hopes to make the court efficient so that cases are resolved quickly.
"I also think it's important for people to know that when they come to court that the judge really is concerned about their case,” said Kelly. “And whatever my decision, although I know I will often make somebody unhappy, I think it's important to know and understand why I came to the decision I made in a given case and that it was my best effort to do what was best."
Kelly replaces Paulette Stagg, who resigned last month.
