The Humane Society of the United States estimates that animal shelters care for 6-8 million dogs and cats every year...about half are euthanized.
The Terre Haute Humane Society hopes to mitigate those numbers locally. Once again, the Humane Society brought some adoptable animals to Honey Creek Mall. They hope people might want a new pet. However, the Humane Society says wanting a pet is not always enough, especially when they witness tragedies like this...
"We have a dog he went to recue today, he's blind he was abused and neglected, his owner refused to take care of him, and now his days are numbered.." Said THHS outreach coordinator.
There will be a national Humane Society convention at the PetSmart in Terre Haute this February on the tenth, eleventh, and twelfth.
