Everybody - especially dads - can use the iHandy level.  This free iPhone app lets you use your phone to make sure walls, pictures, shelving...whatever...is level.  For one-99 you can also get the iHandy carpenter for both iPhone and Android.  It has a couple of different levels, also a plumb, protractor and ruler.  So cool.
Next app for dads is the On the Grill app from the Weber Grill people.  It's for the iPhone, iPad and Android.  It has a timer and detailed grilling tips with hundreds of outdoor cooking recipes, many with videos.  There's even a grocery list function.  This app is expensive, at four-99, but it can turn any dad into a gourmet grill cook.
Finally, give dad some piece of mind and keep track of the whole family.  The Life360 family locator app is for iPhone and Droid.  It displays the locations of family members and lets them check in with dad to say they're okay.  They can even sound an alarm if they need help.  The app is free, but it costs five-dollars-a-month to track up to five family members.
