A tearful goodbye from some familiar voices in the Valley.

Today was the last day for WBOW,  102.7 FM in Terre Haute.

The station, along with ESPN Radio affiliate 1300 AM, were recently purchased by Midwest Communications for $1.3 million.

WBOW spent their final day playing all listener requests, and talking with their fans one last time.

"The fact that at some point in my life I've done something well enough to get great calls like that... I mean I don't deserve any of that, and the fact that they [the listeners] think that I do is just why the Wabash Valley is the absolute best," said WBOW's Jules. "I'm going to miss it very much. I have done this for half my life, and I love the radio, I love music, I love the Wabash Valley."

Midwest Communications already owns four radio stations in Terre Haute, including 100.7 MIX-FM.

No changes are expected for ESPN Radio.

The only mistake made by the new owners is that they brought "Party" Marty Combs to the new station. Combs was never that good on HI99 WTHI, he ran the Crock into the ground when he was program director there, and under his watch, WBOW was quickly following the Crock. Hopefully the new management will finally see how poorly the guy with "little man syndrome" as employees from other markets refer to him as, is doing for their station and finally get him off the air in Terre Haute. Good choice in bringing air talent from outside the valley to the new station. At least there are some new voices to hear instead of the same old tired worn out ones that just move from station to station locally (or stay put forever.)
