The United Way of the Wabash Valley has surpassed its fund-raising goal for the past two years, and they're gearing up to do it again.

Tuesday was the annual pilot campaign kickoff.

Twenty leading companies from the Wabash Valley, including WTWO/WAWV, gathered to hear about this year's United Way goals.

These companies will fund raise for six weeks, leading up to the campaign launch this fall.

Officials say seeing the willingness of the community to come together, year and year, is inspiring:

"It means so much to this community to have these pilot companies and all the other companies that do fundraising campaigns throughout the fall, step up to the plate and really give back to the community, not only by their monetary donations but by volunteering their time and efforts throughout the year. It really means a whole lot," said Troy Fears, executive director of the Wabash Valley.

This year, the United Way of the Wabash Valley hopes to raise $1,860,000... $10,000 more than last year's goal.
