Terre Haute Police Officer Brent Long was shot to death this day last year while trying to serve a warrant.
A year later Terre Haute commemorates the 34-year old's life after serving the community for 6 years.
A procession left city hall tonight at ten and ended at the training center.
Afterward several people visited Long's gravesite.
Widow Danielle Long says Brent was an amazing husband and father.
"He was a great father we have a thirteen year old daughter and we have a two year old son now He was one year old after Brent died and two days after his death our son took his first steps. They are dealing with it now and this is kind of the beginning for us now," said Long.
Danielle organized the procession that she says is a celebration of his life.
Long was also a member of the K-9 unit and S.W.A.T. team.
