In this extremely dry weather, the tiniest of sparks can quickly become a serious fire.

That was the case Wednesday afternoon in southern Vigo County.

This brush fire spread rapidly along Vandyks Street near Pimento. Honey Creek and Thunderbird Fire departments were among those called to the scene.

They managed to get it under control quickly.

Besides the smoke and flames, the firefighters had to cope with the high temperatures.

No one was hurt. A cause is still under investigation.
