One of the Wabash Valley's community resources is temporarily closing its doors.

Covenant Cooperative Ministry has been forced to stop its work - for now.

A lack of funds - and donations - has left the food pantry nearly bare...and there are no volunteers to help with distribution.

CCM serves thousands of people each month, and is the only group that provides diapers.

Organizers say they do everything they can to help the community..now they need a little boost themselves.

"We still have local families in need and I hate turning them away and I know that many have come to rely on this pantry so I'd like to be able to get supplies back up to where we can start serving families again," said executive director Rose Aycock.

"The community has always responded. I know the economy is tough right now. Ironically some of our most faithful donors have now become clients," she continued. "The need is going to continue to grow. And we would like this resource, Covenant Cooperative Ministry, to continue to be a part of the safety net."

Anyone interested in donating or volunteering can call (812) 478-7700 for more information.

Financial contributions to CCM may be mailed or delivered to 122 S. 10 Street, Terre Haute, IN. 47807.
