Trial Date Set in Spitler Murder Case

A Terre Haute man who admitted to killing his wife will go on trial.
A trial date of February 26th was set today for 56-year-old Robert Spitler.
According to the Vigo County Sheriff's Department, around 11 Monday night, Spitler called 911 saying he had just stabbed his wife to death.
When police arrived at the couples home on South 8th Street, they found Shawn Spitler dead in a bedroom with several stab wounds.
The motive for the murder is unclear, but police say there were no signs of a struggle.
Spitler does not appear to have a criminal history.
Police are still investigating.
