A local community raises money for a friend with cancer.

Saturday residents from Sullivan, Indiana held a Christmas sale to raise money for Joellen Roessler.

Roessler was recently diagnosed with breast cancer, and the community wanted to show their support by helping with the medical bills.

Dozens of vendors set up shop at Sullivan 4-h facility to show off their services.

Organizers say the turnout exceeded their expectations for a cause that's close to their hearts.

"I think that anytime there's  tragedy it really brings people together. She's a great lady , and everyone loves her. People want to help out, even those who don't know her want to help out," said organizer Kristi Irwin.
