Supreme Court Upholds Ruling Against Illinois Eavesdropping Law

The U.S. Supreme Court announced on Monday that it has allowed a lower court ruling to stand which declared the Illinois Eavesdropping Statute unconstitutional for trying to criminalize audio recordings of on-duty police officers.

As NBC 2's nationally award winning investigation has covered, citizens in Illinois have been arrested, charged, and even locked up for audio taping law enforcement officials.
