Police credit a Good Samaritan for helping put two accused child abusers behind bars.

Authorities say on Friday a motorist picked up a teenager who was walking along U.S. 41 without shoes on, and then took him to Union Hospital.

The 17-year old told police that his foster parents locked him and his siblings in their room and refused them Thanksgiving dinner.

Authorities say they found the children living in the home had been beaten, duct taped to their beds and were malnourished.

Both parents, Larry and Nikki Russell were arrested.

Officials say they are thankful that the Good Samaritan stepped in when he did.

"One of his statements was that as far as he got was roughly 3rd Street and 3rd Avenue when he was picked up, he didn't think he can walk much further because he was barefoot and his feet were freezing," said THPD Asst. Chief Shawn Keen.

Nikki and Larry Russell are set to appear in Vigo County court on Wednesday.
