Changes are in store for the Vigo County Library in the new year.
You may have already noticed the physical transformation that the library has been undergoing. Crews have been working for a few months installing new flooring. Self-check out kiosks along with an automated material handler will be added soon. The handler will involve a conveyor belt that scans and sorts material into bins.
The library will also see a change in leadership as Nancy Dowell is retiring after 13-years as director. During her tenure technology at the library has undergone dramatic changes.
"Very proud with the technology that we bring to the citizens of Vigo County. We have Internet access, digital books, audio books, so we're certainly proud of the services we provide," says Dowell.
The new director, Kristi Howe, will start on Feb. 1.
Dowell says some of the renovations should be complete by the first of the year.
