After the Newtown, Connecticut school shooting, Vigo County Sheriff Greg Ewing proposed putting officers in county schools as a way to heighten security.
The proposal asked for $135,000 each from the county council and the Vigo County School Board.
The county council approved their portion of the funding in Tuesday's meeting.
The school board already approved their portion back in February.
