The Hamilton Center has been designated "military friendly" and received the highest 4-star rating for its work with the military.

It's one of just two organizations in the state to earn the brand new honor from the Indiana Veterans Behavioral Health Network.

The Hamilton Center was found to address five-key points of support, including outreach to vets and their families, tele-health equipment, national advocacy and PTSD training.

Officials say they're proud to give back and help the people who have served our country, and they're ready to see even more mental health awareness for vets.

"Behavioral health has been in the shadow for so long, it's time for us to step out of the shadows and start being recognized," said Hamilton Center CEO Mel Burks.

Gregory Allen, a community referral liaison at Hamilton Center -  and a vet himself - adds: "It's a privilege to be able to champion that cause for the citizens here in the Wabash Valley and then for Veterans especially."

The Hamiltion Center has also developed a new position.

They're looking to hire a vet/peer recovery specialist to focus full-time on military members.

The Hamilton Center has 10 locations throughout the Wabash Valley.
