Folks in the Valley are kicking off St. Patrick's Day festivities Saturday.

For some, the fun started as early as Saturday morning.

That's when Terre Haute's Sonka's Irish Pub held their annual Irish celebration.

Many locals stopped in to enjoy the taste of the Irish....food and lots of green beer.

This year Sonka's also welcomed a live leprechaun to add to the sea of green.

"I think it's just a great way for people to celebrate friendship, or for them to meet new people. It's also a way to kickoff spring. Today's weather doesn't say that, but we're a step closer to spring," said Sandy Boyles-Gillen with Sonka's Irish Pub.

This is Sonka's 39th year hosting St. Patty's Day celebrations.
