Admiral Jonathan Greenert led a delegation of political and community leaders that visited Crane earlier this month. He had not been here and was impressed with the personnel, the size and the accomplishments of Crane. Here is more of what he said about the future of the base.
Admiral Greenert says, " The future of Crane will be ballistic missile defense. It will be the support of the AEGIS radar system which is more that ballistic missile defense, it's also anti-cruise missile and anti-air. The future for Crane will involve electro-magnetic warfare, which involves jammers that we carry on our tactical aircraft. The whole future of that which is decades out there is being developed right here. The future of Crane will involve strategic nuclear systems and their reliability which is a very, very important part of the restructuring of nuclear enterprise, we call it, which is the missiles, the communication systems and all. The future in Crane involves underwater communications and underwater systems, as well."
