One of Terre Haute's four-legged finest is up for a national award, and here's a reminder on how you can help.

K-9 Shadow was wounded in the fatal gunfire that killed his handler, Brent Long, last July.

He's now  nominated for the 2012 American Hero Dog Award.

Sixteen law enforcement and arson dogs are in the running, and Shadow was recently ranked in third place.

You can cast your vote to help Shadow be named the American Hero Dog by clicking here.

Voting ends tomorrow, June 30.
