Edgar County Relay for Life

By: Jon Swaner
Updated: August 4, 2012
Nearly 700 people pounded the pavement in search for a cure.

The Edgar County Relay for Life kicked off earlier at the county fairgrounds.

All money raised goes towards cancer research and patient care.

Going into the event, the walkers raised about $35,000, and their overall goal is to raise $80,000.

Organizers say they want survivors to know these events are to celebrate them.

"This is all about you.  this is one night a year where this is focused on the survivors.  we all have the same experiences say we can be together as one big group," said Brad Tibble of the American Cancer Society.
