Friday's crop report may have been a blow to many valley farmers.
but the U.S Department of Agriculture may be able to offer relief to some.

United States Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsick announced that the USDA will distribute sixteen million dollars to nineteen states.
Because Indiana is a state in an exceptional drought it will receive three point five million dollars.
The money will offer immediate financial assistance to help crop and livestock producers.
All farmers are allowed to sign up for the program, but there is a selection process.

Eddy Adams- NRCS
"We rank all applications. We will take applications, and providing eligibility, most farmers would be eligible. And then we rank the applications from there. Then they are evaluated and chosen...selected from there."

The deadline to register is August 20th, and you can sign up at your counties Natural Resources Conservation Services office.
