An annual festival honors local service veterans.

The Ernie Pyle Festival Kicked off Thursday in Dana, Indiana.

Today the festivities started at three and will go until tonight.

The organizers at the Ernie Pyle World War II Museum in Dana invite both veterans and citizens to enjoy an observance cermony.

Friends could also enjoy fair food, games, and rides.

Organizers say money raised goes to the volunteer fire department.

"We don't get much funding from any place else. The fire trucks are expensive, and the gear is about $1,000 so it takes a lot of money to keep going," Bob Richardson with the Ernie Pyle Festival.

Tonight is the last night for the event, but will be back next year.
